
In 2008, during her primary school years at SJK(C) Foon Yew 2, Yee Shan began her musical journey by joining the wind orchestra, where she studied the trumpet for four years under the guidance of Mr Kee Weijie.
In 2014, upon entering secondary school, she joined the Chinese orchestra to study the Yangqin under the mentorship of Mr Chen Yu Tat. Subsequently, in 2015, she pursued studies in Guzheng at Southern Music & Arts, under the guidance of Ms Teo Tongjia. Throughout these years of learning musical instruments, she actively participated in the Central Conservatory of Music’s overseas grading examinations. In 2019, she achieved in Grade 8 Guzheng, followed by a Grade 8 Yangqin in 2020. In the same year, she participated in the He Yue International Arts Festival(Online) and was awarded the Bronze Prize in the plucked strings category.
In early 2021, she successfully passed the entrance examination for the China Conservatory of Music and commenced her studies in Yangqin in September of the same year.
